On Saturday November 17th we will be in Bodegas Díaz Bayo

This winery is located in Fuentelcésped, a few miles from from Aranda de Duero. It is more a rather functional winery in spite of having a very nice barrel room. But undoubtedly the best of this winery are the wines and the discourse of Daniel. He has a simple but very educational discourse. You can understand everything he says. Daniel is a young man (no more than 30) and has a fresh speech learned from the knowledge of many generations of winemakers.

Fuentelcésped is a village as many in Castilla whose inhabitants lived on wine, and decided to pierce and pierce to preserve their wines.

The vineyards of this winery, are just beside the winery. They are worth to have a look. Specially at the time we visited them with the grapes just to be caught.

When you visit a new winery you always have in mind that maybe there is not going to be surprising or different from the others. And the amazing thing is that many, many times you find new and surprising things.

We will go afterwards to Aranda de Duero for tapas at the pedestrian area of Aranda de Duero. On this zone there is a restaurant with tapas as good as the best place in Madrid. But much cheaper.

We will see one of the underground caves that flood Aranda de Duero (In Aranda de Duero there were 300 wineries a long time ago)

And then we will make a guided tour of some interesting landmark building in Aranda de Duero and / or surroundings.

11,15 h Departure from Madrid (Plaza del Conde de Casal)

13h Visit to Bodegas Díaz Bayo and tasting of 3 wines.

15 h Having tapas in Aranda de Duero

16,30h Visiting the underground winery.

17 h Guided Visit to Aranda de Duero or its surroundings

19 h Departure to Madrid.

21 h Arrival to Madrid.

Bodegas Casa del Valle

We had already been in Martúe Winery and we had a wonderful time. What winery! What speech! ! What wines!

Then we had tapas in Toledo. The tapas were scrumptious.

And then we went to visit Toledo.

As I live in Madrid. Toledo is very closed from where I live and I have visited a lot of times.

Now we go to Casa del Valle Winery. What a winery of the Olarra group!!! It is located in Yepes, 65 kms from Madrid, with fantastic wines, with a very good speech at the winery, with a beautiful vineyard just beside the winery and very attractive facilities.

These are the wines that appear on its website: Hacienda Casa del Valle Shiraz, Hacienda casa del Valle Cabernet Sauvignon and Finca Valdelagua. And these are the wines that we will take in the tasting. Hacienda Casa del Valle Shiraz, Hacienda Casa del Valle Cabernet Sauvignon, Finca Valdelagua

Then there is Jose Fuentes the Winery wine tourism responsible that is going to do the best of himself for telling us how this group has taken advantage of its experience to design and create this winery. Jose ´s speech is very solid and there is something very nice on this visit that you will appreciate that do not happen to often on the visit to other wineries. I am talking about visiting the vineyard. Everybody agrees that the key to have a good wine is obtained, from what is done in the vineyard. It is an act of recognition that the visit begins in the vineyard.

In short, it is a visit that is worth to do.

Conocida también como la Ciudad Imperial o la ciudad de las tres culturas, Toledo ofrece al visitante una de las sensaciones más ilusionantes y gratificantes para cualquier inquieto de la historia española.

Cristianos, judíos y musulmanes han habitados sus calles durante siglos, conviviendo así en la actualidad, catedrales, sinagogas y mezquitas puerta con puerta, dando la sensación en ocasiones de desconocer por completo el país en el que nos encontramos.

Además del famoso Alcázar y de la catedral destacan también la Sinagoga del Tránsito, situada en pleno barrio judío y de construcción mudéjar fue durante décadas símbolo del poder semita en todo el Reino de Castilla.

De su gastronomía destacan los diversos guisos de perdiz, en escabeche o estofada, las populares carcamusas, así como las múltiples formas de preparar el conejo: al ajillo, a la cazadora, al carbonero o al tojunto con arroz. Como entrantes es habitual encontrarse con las tradicionales sopas de ajo, el gazpacho y el pisto manchegos.

En resumen, una genial forma de pasar una jornada entre mazapanes, espadas, cuchillos y templos, todo ello en el mejor ambiente castellano y de la mano de la mejor compañía posible, el Winebus.

Para encontrarnos con esta magnífica bodega deberemos trasladarnos a la zona más septentrional de la provincia de Toledo, concretamente en el municipio de Yepes.

Bodegas y Viñedos Casa del Valle es sin duda la niña mimada del Grupo de Bodegas Olarra, la cual llevan apostando desde sus inicios por una filosofía de vinos de pago heredando así la más fiel cultura de los «Châteaux» bordeleses.

Escoltando la bodega, divisamos las 82 hectáreas de su viñedo, compuesto fundamentalmente por Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot y Syrah.

La bodega mantiene todo el sabor de los antiguos cigarrales manchegos. Su ubicación en el valle del río Tajo y su entorno, dominado por viñas y olivos, le confieren un carácter único y especial.

Sus vinos destacan por su marcado carácter riojano, cuna del feudo Olarra,  fundiéndolo de manera extraordinaria con los tonos más especiados de los vinos de Mancha y unas cuidadas vinificaciones y crianzas que dan como resultado uno de los vinos más singulares y diferentes de toda la región.

Una oportunidad perfecta para disfrutar de una pequeña parte de la esencia Riojana a 45 minutos de la capital.

El Winebus en Peñaranda de Duero.

Continuación del post El Winebus en El Lagar de Isilla. Tragos de historia y tradición

Una vez disfrutado de las mejores tapas de Aranda de Duero, nuestro winebus pondrá rumbo a los sures de la provincia de Burgos, en donde se alza con autoridad uno de los mejores representantes de la arquitectura y sociedad de toda la comarca.

De escasa demografía pero elevada riqueza cultural, Peñaranda de Duero, ofrece múltiples atractivos constructivos, todos ellos de entre los siglos XV y XVI. La Excolegiata de Santa Ana, El Palacio de los Condes de Miranda (Avellaneda), El Rollo de Peñaranda y sobretodo el Castillo de Peñaranda de Duero.

El castillo de Peñaranda es una espectacular fortaleza dominada por el caserio y presentando una gran similitud con otros castillos de la zona ribereña, como los de Peñafiel y Gormaz, y también repite el ventajoso emplazamiento entre un monte y un río, como se observa en Burgos, Frías o Castrojeriz.

De entre las diferentes plantas del castillo, destaca sobretodo la torre principal en donde se puede disfrutar de unas maravillosas vistas de todo el pueblo y también de las inquietantes mazmorras, lugar generalmente desconocido y poco visitado pero en donde los interesados pueden tener una visión de los diferentes usos que se le podían dar principalmente como cárcel o aljibe.

En conclusión, una jornada completa para empezar con buen pie el año y adelantarse a uno mismo el regalo de reyes.
