Bodegas Portia is like a real slap in the face. As hard as I experienced  visiting Marques de Riscal in Rioja, designed by the famous Frank Gehry, the architect that designed  the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. The impact was so hard for me that since I have as an image as a back screen on my twitter account of the terrace Marques de Riscal cafeteria in contrast with the amazing village of El Ciego.

It just happened the same with Bodegas Portia, with the difference that I have visited many wineries  on the way. And I got dazzled. When you are getting close to the winery you already feel you are going to see something unusual.

When you enter you realize that what there is inside is much better than the outside. I would say it’s a pharaonic  work.

Every day architecture and wine are more related.

And Norman Foster wanted to make his mark here. They say his fee was 5 MM euros for this work. And I say they are worth.

This is a winery from the Faustino Group. This group is a high quality wines warranty. We will taste 2 of their wines which are at the level of the winery.

Its hard to forget a visit to any winery in general. In this case I would it is almost impossible.

We will hace lunch in Aranda de Duero in a place where tapas reach heaven.  We will not pay for the meal no more than 20 euros per person. (not included on the price of the tour). And then we go to Peñaranda de Duero in which we will do a guided tour of the city. This city has so many iconic buildings. For instance the Colegiata, the castle and José Cerezo blacksmith store.  Probably we will see all of then, but it is not sure because you know how the winebus starts but little variations in the program may happen.

GRUPO YLLERA

We are going again to a winery in Rueda. We are going to Grupo de Bodegas Yllera which is an spectacular winery. It is a double visit actually. On the one hand a visit to the facilities of winemaking of white wine of Rueda DO and then the red Yllera. Both wines are excepctional. And if we add to that, a spectacular winery and an a very attractive speech, the result is wonderful. Bodegas del Grupo Yllera are pioneers in many things in the world of wine and we will realize about it during the visit.

More images of the winery of Bodegas del Grupo Yllera

The wines are pretty good but the winery is at the same level. We will visit the modern facilities they have 1 mile from Rueda, to turn back afterwards to visit the old winery, just in the middle of town with a wonderful story about “EL Hilo de Ariadna” We go down 20 meteres deep to relate the Greek mythology to the world of wine.

Castillo de la Mota

After the visit we will go to Medina del Campo to have some tapas (fixed price (optional), no more than 20 euros) And after lunch we will see the Castle of la Mota and the Museum «de las Ferias» . We are what we are because in the Middle Age there were cities like Medina del Campo that that facilitated trade. On the Museum  “de las Ferias” they will explain it to us very well.

We are doing more and more trips in which we discover new wineries and new places to visit

I often heard that in Spain there are many very good wines. But that when you go to Castilla la Mancha this does not happen so. Well, ladies and gentlemen. I must say that this could have happened in the past, but now, every time I go to this region I find amazing wineries  and wines. And that it is a real pleasure to know that more and more wineries make great wines,  have the facilities to be proud of and hold a breathtaking speech.

On this case we are going by the hand of our friend Jesus Benito. We will go to visit Bodegas Verum that is just aside Tomelloso. There, after the visit, we will have 3 wines.  Then we will go to best  place to have tapas un Tomelloso. I am sure that Bodegas Verum is going to be at he same level or even higher than other wineries of Castilla La Mancha that impressed me when we visited with the winebus. See its website. Bodegas Verum

They have made us a menu of 20 euros (optional, not included in the trip price) Afterwards we are going to make a visit to everything that is worth to be visited in Tomelloso . Did I say everything?  Y do not think we will be able to see everything because there is a lot to be seen in Tomelloso.

After the guided visit we have to go back to Madrid. I expect of this jouney to be special trip on the Winebus project. I like to think that there is a turning point at this time.

I would be very happy if I see you there. Just to prove once again that the people, when they finish the trip, exhibit a broad smile on their faces and they hug each other whenthey leave even if they did know each other only from a few hours before. I love to see that scene again and again. Some say that this happens because of they wine. And I say it is not just not because of that. It is because of the wine, and much more. Why do you not come and give us your own impression?

This trip in Spanish El Winebus en Bodegas Verum y Tomelloso el sábado 1 de diciembre

Bodegas Verum: Exquisita variedad
