Qubel enoteca

Y no me equivoqué.

Once again, I visited the Gosálbez Orti winery. I have become closer to this winery lately.

The owners invited a few friends and they were very kind to invite me too. They told me that the visit would begin at 8 PM, but as I had already taken the tour, they suggested me to join them just for the tasting. However, I had the feeling I had to tour around the winery for a second time. And I was right. Carlos is a very special man. Not only because of the passion, sensitivity, knowledge and culture he has, but also because of the vast knowledge about wine he has. And, apart from being a wine enthusiast he is also passionate about telling others why they do things the way they do. I believe that the wine sector has earned a great winemaker, but the university has lost a wonderful teacher because he is extremely didactic on his explanations.

I do think that Carlos is passionate about living as a general concept and enjoying what he does –he knows what he likes and enjoys it very much. Did I learn anything on this second visit? Even more than on the first one. His speech –as it happens with good teachers– was similar to the one he said on my first visit. The same tone, the same passion, the same enthusiasm to transmit his experience. The difference is on details. These were completely different from the previous visit. His speech is far from a parrot speech, quite usual on this sector, but a discourse from his heart.

But the show had not finished. There were still the tasting and the dinner. And all passed to Estrella’s responsibility. On my previous post on this blog I already wrote that Estrella is the perfect complement to Carlos. She is as perfectionist, just like him, but she also takes care of anything that Carlos does not know how to do. This perfectionism can be seen everywhere; on the cellar, small but very charming, on the tanks, on the barrels area, and especially at the Enoteca, decorated with exquisite taste and a very attractive balance between elegance and professional design.

I could say that this post summarizes most of what this blog is all about. Most of the final consumers do like to have several references in order to understand which are the best wines among thousands of wines in the market. They understand what quality means with a very nice visit to a winery. But even the most experienced tasters appreciate a good ceremony and a good atmosphere when paying a visit to a winery. This is what Gosálbez Orti knows how to do best. It is easy to understand the reason why many five-star hotels in Madrid strongly recommend visiting this winery.

Estrella could have taken care of the tasting. She knows her products very well and has participated in thousands of tastings. Carlos could have done it too. But Estrella is always looking forward to offering the visitor a unique experience. Therefore, she always wants to be in the company of very selected sommeliers to keep the tasting at the highest level.

.After the tasting we had a very nice dinner that was the perfect complement to a memorable day.

If you’re in Madrid, and you want to make a top visit to a winery I recommend you going to Carlos´s and Estrella´s Winery.
