On Saturday November 17th we will be in Bodegas Díaz Bayo

This winery is located in Fuentelcésped, a few miles from from Aranda de Duero. It is more a rather functional winery in spite of having a very nice barrel room. But undoubtedly the best of this winery are the wines and the discourse of Daniel. He has a simple but very educational discourse. You can understand everything he says. Daniel is a young man (no more than 30) and has a fresh speech learned from the knowledge of many generations of winemakers.

Fuentelcésped is a village as many in Castilla whose inhabitants lived on wine, and decided to pierce and pierce to preserve their wines.

The vineyards of this winery, are just beside the winery. They are worth to have a look. Specially at the time we visited them with the grapes just to be caught.

When you visit a new winery you always have in mind that maybe there is not going to be surprising or different from the others. And the amazing thing is that many, many times you find new and surprising things.

We will go afterwards to Aranda de Duero for tapas at the pedestrian area of Aranda de Duero. On this zone there is a restaurant with tapas as good as the best place in Madrid. But much cheaper.

We will see one of the underground caves that flood Aranda de Duero (In Aranda de Duero there were 300 wineries a long time ago)

And then we will take road to Riaza and learn the history of this village through a guided tour by the village and its surroundings.

Tras nuestra visita a la estupenda bodega, nuestro Winebus pondrá rumbo a la segoviana localidad de Riaza, enclavada entre la vertiente Norte del Macizo de Ayllón y la meseta castellana.

La riqueza de este pequeño pueblo se encuentra en su rico y variado patrimonio arqueológico. La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Manto, La Ermita de San Juan, la Ermita de San Roque o la Ermita de la Virgen de Hontares son algunos de los emblemas de esta acogedora villa centro-española.

Su centro neurálgico se encuentra en la Plaza Mayor, de típica arquitectura con soportales que rodea a una plaza de suelo de arena circular. Este es el lugar de referencia de la villa, en ella se puede degustar la rica gastronomía castellana de la zona y descansar al sol del otoño en una de sus numerosas terrazas.

La Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora del Manto queda actualmente situada en la porción de plaza más pequeña, en la parte trasera del Ayuntamiento.

Es un impresionante conjunto renacentista, fechado entre finales del siglo XV y mediados del siglo XVI con planta rectangular de cruz latina, ábside, dos capillas (anexionadas con posterioridad a la edificación del conjunto), torre campanario, sacristía y baptisterio.

En resumen, se trata de una espectacular apuesta vitícola, enológica y de genuino turismo castellano que de buen seguro no defraudará al visitante.

Bodegas Casa del Valle

We had already been in Martúe Winery and we had a wonderful time. What winery! What speech! ! What wines!

Then we had tapas in Toledo. The tapas were scrumptious.

And then we went to visit Toledo.

As I live in Madrid. Toledo is very closed from where I live and I have visited a lot of times.

Now we go to Casa del Valle Winery. What a winery of the Olarra group!!! It is located in Yepes, 65 kms from Madrid, with fantastic wines, with a very good speech at the winery, with a beautiful vineyard just beside the winery and very attractive facilities.

These are the wines that appear on its website: Hacienda Casa del Valle Shiraz, Hacienda casa del Valle Cabernet Sauvignon and Finca Valdelagua. And these are the wines that we will take in the tasting. Hacienda Casa del Valle Shiraz, Hacienda Casa del Valle Cabernet Sauvignon, Finca Valdelagua

Then there is Jose Fuentes the Winery wine tourism responsible that is going to do the best of himself for telling us how this group has taken advantage of its experience to design and create this winery.  Jose ´s speech  is very solid and there is something very nice on this visit that you will appreciate that do not happen to often on the visit to other wineries. I am talking about visiting the vineyard. Everybody agrees  that the key to have a good wine is obtained, from what is done in the vineyard. It is an act of recognition that the visit begins in the vineyard.

In short, it is a visit that is worth to do.

Bodegas Neo is in Castrillo de la Verga, very closed to Aranda de Duero, 150 kms from Madrid. We will taste 3 of their wines.

On Saturday 20 we go to Finca Constancia Winery from the González Byass Group.

This winery is located in the Extremadura road about 95 kms from Madrid.

It belongs to the Gonzales Byass Group and somehow collects all the experience , know how from the group creating a last generation winery. This implies a design of it very modern and attractive, energy efficient and very friendly to the environment (Water treatment,  use of natural light)

There are 200 hectares of vinyards planted with very different grape varieties. And best of all, when you approach to the winery, and during a big gap you have at right and left all this vineyard. There can not be a better view. For more information visit their website: Finca Constancia

We will taste 3 of their wines, to be told wich of the ones they ellaborate.

To have  look on this huge vineyard and these cutting edge facilities, to know the history of the winery and to taste their wines becomes a fantastic experience.

After the visit we go to eat at a nearby restaurant. The cost of lunch is not included in the tour Price but it will never be more that 30 euros per person.

On the way back to Madrid we will stop at Navlacranero to visit their Wine Interpretation Centre which is a blast. We can also some of us see the Wine Museum which isa succesful attempt to bring the world of wine through our five senses.  Navalcarrnero is a gem that we have at hand from Madrid and that we forget we have, maybe because it is so close.

And if we still have time available we will have a drink in Segovia Square, one of the most original and prettiest squares of Spain.
